CAMERA SHOTS QUIZ
For this assignment, we had to make a presentation of 15 shots and angles. The objective was to tell a story and express emotions just through the shots without using any words.

I did mine on a pencil vs. pen rivalry. I thought it would be fun and a little ridiculous because they're both just inanimate objects, but I could personify them and make it look like they were two people debating which one is better. The pen is all full of themself, and the pencil is humble but versatile, and I tried to convey that through the way I shot it.

While I was building the story, I was trying to make it funny but also a little bit sad at the same time. The funny part was in exaggerating the seriousness of the competition, two characters fighting this battle. But then the sad part came in when the pen started to look lonely and worn out, as though it was struggling to keep up with the pencil. That brought a little more depth to it all instead of it being just silly.

I tried using the camera angles to illustrate the dynamic in a straightforward manner. Low angles of an individual made them look powerful and strong, while high angles of the other made them look weak or defeated. Close-ups were also very useful since they showed all the tiny details, like the shiny tip of the pen or the worn out eraser of the pencil which helped to build up the mood and make it more dramatic.

Overall, I think the shots did a great job of showing the rivalry as a balance of conflict and comedy. If I had more time, I would've added an even more establishing shots at the start so people would know right away where this battle was taking place.
